The word is “y’all.” It is a contraction of “you” and “all,” therefore, the apostrophe goes between the y and the a.
The word is not “ya’ll.” Such a thing is a heresy against grammar.
I put emphasis on the “all”, but lots of people pronounce it “yall”, and I think “yall” is where the misconception comes from.
If you ask me, “y’all” is a heresy...
